The roller coaster ride has started!! In the new location, the extra space has been added, by removing extra bathrooms(2) and closets (3) I have signed a permit application, and signed the estimate for the AC. I am totally happy with the plan for the AC, and it gives me lots of flexibility that most salons will never have. The facial room, and the nail spa will both have separate units that will be controlled independently The main salon floor will have more than adequate cooling, provided by two, 2 ton mini-split systems. these have no duct wok, and are effective, cost conservative and silent to operate. A fresh air intake will be provided separate from the AC units. That was the point of contention with the other contractors, who tried to insist that the fresh air be added to the air conditioner intake, cost at 9 to 10 thousand dollars.
This guy, (in the program BTW) got the whole job (planned just like I wanted it) for 5,500 !! The landlord has given 3,000 in lease start-up consideration, so My actual cost is only 2,500. Not bad considering the load above what is called for in a office. She (LL) has done right by me, I am more than happy.
SOO I have Craigslisted new shampoo bowls, styling chairs, a facial machine, and facial bed, two pedispas, hairdryers, LED window signs. when the dust settles, I will make a comparison of the equipment I bought VS the cost new, your jaw will drop! the storage unit is packed with boxes from IKEA. The AC will be picked up tomorrow, and installed next week. Then the plumber, tile guy, and a small army of handymen. I have 1500 "we've moved" postcards, and four "now open" huge banners. when the starters pistol fires, nobody is going to believe how fast this old woman can move (translate... order people around). I will have to get windows tinted, signs hung, walls painted, my art gallery of crap on the walls, change all my accounts, change all my online listings. I filled out and paid for the new salon license this afternoon . I really got frustrated for a while when four AC contractors told me such high estimates, and I thought I would have to back out, but in my heart, I am fully committed (or should be. tee hee)
I will stop right here and thank GOD for the courage to move forward, the strength to work, the mental clarity to hold my vision, and his loving guidance showing me through this maze. I am fortunate indeed, and have absolutely no fear of the unknown. I think that is because I have seen this coming on for over a year. I have wonderful people working with me, and I am certain blessing are in store for A Couple Gals (and Vinny)!!!
