the newest innovation in shipping is called "smartpost". Your order starts out with FedEx, you get atracking number that you can follow as usual. You watch your package leave it "origen" and make it's way across the country. Until it gets near you. In my case, Orlando. then your package is transferred to guess who... (??!) the USPS and is dropped to "transferred to smartpost" there is no more information coming and no delivery date. No more information until you receive (by searching for ) your delivery confirmation. I have had one very bad outcome by this shipping method. OH! and the delivery confirmation only says it was delivered in your zip code, not necessarily YOUR address (my case) .
Shipping insurance is usually never offered, as FedEx packages are covered, thsat is, until they are handed to USPS. you are on your own now. AND< FedEx will not honor the insurance coverage, as long as USPS has provided a delivery confirmation notice. You CANNOT get insurance on this method of shipping, and it is, in my opinion, highly questionable. Like two guys blaming each other for screwing up, and you have no way to prove who screwed up. I keep saying I will NEVER this method, since the very first time i did, it went south. But here I am waiting on an important supplement for my ailing Lewi, and it has just dropped off the tracking page, with NO estimated delivery date. I have no idea how to avoid this new, crappy method of getting stuff to me (sometimes, sooner or later), What kind of shipping takes 3 to 13 days?? the crappy kind, thats what kind.
AVOID FedEx "smartpost"
PS it does not say smartpost when it is shipped, it is like a surprise halfway... arrived, departed..arrived, depart..TRANSFERRED!!!! to smartpost, end of information.
You may have had good luck with this method, I didn't. I "lost" over $100 in prescription drugs for Lewi, that could only be confirmed as "Delivered at 33405" FedEx said their responsibility ends when they hand the package to the post office
