Me and my big mouth!

Well, I try to do two things in this life ; Help when I can, and leave well enough alone. Sometimes (often) that requires a decision-making process.

My friend, and EX president of our neighborhood association has decided to run for City Comissioner in an upcoming election.

That meant he had to withdraw from his post as "prez", and find a suitable (aka "sucker") candidate to fill the post.

At which point everyone else took that step back..... and there I stood , wondering "HUH!? ME???? WHY?"

I felt his pain at the fact that no one was commited to our neighborhood assn enough to step up to the plate, poor Al.

Sooooo, dumb-ass here says "OK, whatever it takes to get you to City Hall , I'm in".

That was my last leisure moment. I did revisit the Fair on Tuesday, but then wednesday I had a meeting on a City Park restoration project, tonight I had a meeting at City Hall about the parking problem at the high school.

It is ten pm and I just finished an email response to a project co-ordinator asking for $1000 to renovate a park project that had fallen to disrepair after the hurricanes FOUR years ago.

I have always been a seat-of-the-pants flyer. You kow, I didn't take notes in school, I learned or I didn't (mostly didn't!) and relied on my common sense and street smarts to get me along.

All that has worked well, up untill now. Now I realize I will need a phone book of City Officials names and numbers, and a list of who lied to me and who I lied to, or BS'd or whatever you like to call blowing smoke up sumbody's ..... But, that is not the point. Now I am called on to help find rational ,workable solutions to imposible problems. In any of these situations everyone has an interest.... THEIR OWN! and we all know that everyone CANT have their way. If we push all the cars of YOUR street, they will be on YOUR NEIGHBOR'S street.
Do I really want to be here??

I think I will go to the woods soon, maybe I will stay there! LOL (I wont)

but I am sure this will be a very exasperating experience for me. The City of WPB is in a heap O' trubble, and it's fixin to git werse!
