I have been to my new spot, peeking through windows, and trying to figure how and where to put everything. Wondering how plumbers will find the water lines, where to run electricity. wondering how whiny the stylists will get . I am looking at an old motel, built in the 40's. Pure old Florida, all the way. TONS of work involved, but so very visible, with outdoor areas that will compliment my salon, and it's only two blocks from where I am now. I would probably not every move my salon, except for the angry Vietnamese woman down the hall, but it seems we are leaving.
Ikea has some cool stuff that can be used to furnish things like lighting and storage. I do think I am going to go with Ikea because actual salon furnishings are god-aweful expensive. One simple cabinet for a station (15"x15",30"tall) is 200 to 400$. Ikea puts a 12x15 in my salon for 59$. enough about Ikea.
It's the plumbers and electricians that scare me!! Also, the place does NOT have central air, there are five wall units, as I am getting five motel rooms on the front wing of the building. I think I will use two of the openings for exhaust fans, one for nails, and one on the main salon floor (for when it gets stinky in there). I have to get an AC contractor to look at the building and advise me as to the best way to go. Very popular now , are "mini splits" which require no duct work. there is a main condenser unit outside, just like central air. but inside no big airhandler. there are "mini" units connected to the condenser, that hang on the wall, , you can put several on one unit, and control each room separately, for a lot less money than central. They are becoming quite popular.
in the picture, the yellow line points right to the north wing of the building, which will be mine.In the picture, all the windows are boarded up, but there are big windows (5 of them) , and the huge sign, with a space for me on it! I have the whole space, right back to the corner! it is about 1100 sq ft
So here I am at 6 am, when I could be sleeping, wondering where water lines are and air conditioners, and how nice it will be to have BRAND NEW air conditioners, instead of a 20 year old, nasty non functional one, like I have now. Onward and upward, I have to keep my head under control, so I dont burn out. I have a lot of work ahead of me!

Just keep a cool head, you can do it!
Now you will have wonderful neighbors! Finally:) Sounds like a good plan. Will pray that all goes (reasonably) well.
Big hugs, honey...
