Roscoe's heart is enlarged, more than my vet thought it would be. The pulmonary arteries are also enlarged. I do not have the information to form an educated opinion of what all this means. My vet said that he does sometimes see this in dogs with heartworm. Here I am, about to say something I thought I would never say...... Man, I hope it is heartworm. I will know tomorrow.
UPDATE: Heartworm test was neg. Blood values all normal. This means that there is a congenital heart defect. The next step is an evaluation of the xray by a veterinary cardiologist

Oh Roscoe, I'm sorry you got a big heart. My sister Pixie had Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. She was diagnosed when she was about 5 and she lived to be over 13 years old! She took a few medicines and they helped her a lot.
