Cleo, Rescue Dog.1996-Oct 5, 2010

I found Cleo digging around the dumpster at church. She was a little puppy, skinny, and covered in mange. I took her (and her sister) to Animal Care, and left a note offering to help pay for their care. I got a call telling me the puppies were too sick and would be put down unless I wanted to foster them, in which case, ACC would pay for the meds, and I would do the rest. After the girls got really cute and healthy, I adopted them out. a year later Cleo was featured on the news as the "Pet of the Week" her owner had left her at the Humane Society. I imediately went there, and after showing her adoption contract, she was returned to me. Cleo never left my care again, and was the best Yard Dog anybody could ask for. Every winter she grew a big fuzzy ruff around her neck and a matching Mohawk

I took a few shots of my Old Lady dog a few weeks ago, and you can see her fading away......

Last night Cleo was upset most of the night. She and Ginger sleep outside in the carport in a nice big doghouse, with a soft bed, she seemed frightened and kept yipping softly most of the night.
This morning I found her crouched behind the grill, she could not put weight on her hind leg, and fell over if you touched her. The vet said to give  her a few hours to see if she recovered any, she did not. I put her down, and buried her where she used to dig her favorite hole. Cleo had lost her sight, now she could barely walk, and seemed so frightened , so I did what I had to do.
Bye CLEO!!!

Dear Jo,

Cleo was a very special baby girl. Hope your other angels won't get made but she was my favorite. You always so the best for your babies and what you did for Cleo was no exception. You are a wonderful mommy for all your kids. Know your girl is at peace, happy, healthy & whole waiting for you at Rainbow Bridge. God bless Cleo and God bless you for all you do. I love you.

MisDarlin,
Even in the end you put her well-being before your feelings and emotions. Um... probably why she loved you.
Warm Hugs!!!

What a wonderful life you gave her. Pets are amazing things, how they paw their way into our hearts. They leave footprints seemingly far beyond what people can leave…. I’m hearing of so much of this lately, from young babies to those that have lived a full life. We adopted two springer wanna be’s last weekend – 50% springer/50% ??? – the mother was picked up at a rescue in Micanopy, pregnant and so skinny they didn’t even know. So far, it’s a lot of fun. Pebbles is still stumbling around, she’ll likely be joining Cheyenne and Cleo before too long.

Big hugs to you – you are a really really really good dog mommie!

I am so sorry. I know you will miss Cleo but she had lots of love from you and you took such good care of her. She is with Chuckie now and they both healthy and playing. They have lots of great food, the weather is beautiful and they are happy because they know you loved them so much.

Love
Elaine
