OK, It's over.... YAY! I had some real decent help this year and I SOOO apreciate that. AND I was graced by a visit from Empress Bee and Sarge Charlie.
Our City Commissioner, Molly Douglas, who is running for Mayor next year told me TWICE she was absolutely coming, and has showed me what her word is worth..... nothing. I dislike that intensely, but it seems to be the norm for politicians around here.
The Commissioner from MY district, Bill Moss, did attend and ate, and had smoothie, and drew lots of raffle tickets. My "Girls" did to, and Bill won a gorgeous big orchid plant
On the other hand, I bought about 200 dollars worth of food, and more was donated, and the turnout was so light that almost half of it was donated to a church that feeds the homeless. Not that I mind that, but I handed out PERSONALLY over two hundred invitations , and I bet only 50 or so people showed up. I greatly appreciate those who came and thanked us and gave me hugs and kisses. I had a good time,. but the lack of attendance, meant a lack of raffle tickets sales, which meant I did not even recover enough to pay the steel drummer, much less the grocery bill.
Most of the toys I bought for the kids are still there.
So that's it, the last party, for sure. From now on I will cut hair take my dough to the bank, and keep my gratitude in verbal form!
But for tonight, my heartfelt thanks to the neighbors and busnesses who donated food and raffle prizes, as follows
Dixie Grill... dining certificates
Howley's restaurant... dining certificates
Pegasis Restaurant.... dining certificates
Don Ramon Cuban restaurant... dining certificats, and food donation
Mallen Chiropractic.... massage certificates
Kritter Korner.... pet grooming gift certificate
Digitall photo.... portrait packages
Dixie Window and Door.... food donation and clean up help
Don Victor's produce.... discount fruit for smoothie bar
Pizza Mambo... A BIG GIANT HUGE THANKS for their help, pizza donation, and the wonderful use of their walk in cooler to keep our stuff fresh
I do have a picture of me in my Carmen Miranda hat and sparkly party glasses, but I left my camera at the salon, I will insert them a little later, like tomorrow or Monday, stay tuned

you did good jj
I loved the Steel Drum! It sounded like fun!
I think 50 people sounds like a lot. I use to have an annual gathering at my business in Florida. It took several years to learn to stop buying so much food. Less is better, not to mention less expensive and less trouble!
50 sounds pretty good to me too...but i guess when you're expecting more...and preparing for more...it kinda sucks!! just figure everyone who was there had a great time...and whoever wasn't...it was their loss!! you did a nice thing!! :)
I sure would have been there if I could have. I know you throw a fine party, and those who missed it, missed a great time. Kick back today. You've earned some down time!
Big hugs...
I would have been there is I could have too. I'm sorry the turnout wasn't what you had hoped for, but at least you won't be doing this again. Just remember to keep smiling. Just saying.
Have a terrific day and get some rest. :)
