On the news tonight, a news story about a man severely injured in a car accident. He was pinned in his car after hitting a tree. The paramedics cut him out of the car, but were forced to remove part of his lower leg/and or foot (The news stories switch back and forth between "leg" and "foot")
After the amputation the man was rushed to the hospital. His leg/foot never showed up. It was missing.
It was reported later that one of the paramedics had taken it home and put it in her freezer. That report went on for a while before the fire department issued a statement that the paramedic had taken the body part to use for training cadaver dogs. 
The victim is wondering whether his limb might have been reattached.
