My Plumbers Hat

A brief fill- in here.... Since I now OWN the salon I have worked at for four years, I have set about making it MINE. I have removed the cheap pressed-board bookshelves and bought a lovely hutch to put in it's place as product display.

I bought "Grand Opening " banners, and will fly them when I have the place in order. So I bought a brand new Price Pfhister faucet on Ebay to replace the nasty corroded one that shed rust flakes every time it is cleaned, but it DID work....

Today I put on my plumbers hat and crawled under the sink. Changing a faucet is really easy. I began to tap-tap-tap on the plastic nuts that held the thing on. Chips of rust began to shower down, what a mess. Then to my amazement, the source of the rust became apparent. It was the sink rusting away, not the faucet. The top of the sink just gave way and I removed the faucet, waterlines, nuts, the whole shootin match in one piece and left behind a gaping hole were the decrepit faucet once sat.

CRAP!!!!

so after a break, I attacked the nasty B-word again, this time disconnecting the drain and putting the thing in the dumpster.

It's not as easy as "buy a new sink" the original owner (10 years ago) had put that sink in from a salvage yard.

(this is a picture of one listed as "antique" on ebay)

They don't make these any more. so now I have to buy a ready made formica top from HD and cut it to size, buy a stinkin sink, drain, water lines, etc. then cut out the counter top to drop the sink in and put this all back together!!! Next time I will ignore the stupid corroded faucet that DID WORK. I in no way know exactly how to go about this project, but if a guy sportin butt-crack can do it, so can I. More on-the-job training and about two hundred bucks and I will have another feather in my Plumbers Hat!!!!
